'Y'all see movies when reading?': Book lovers discover aphantasia, realize not everyone reads the same

Reading is a beloved pastime. It connects us to the past, to our imaginations, and to our fellow man. It's also just a great way to entertain yourself for a couple hours. But not apparently everyone experiences the same thing when they read. I personally see flashes of images and sound-- not totally crystal clear, but something. Kind of like an impressionist painting. It makes the reading experience more engaging, and the more compelling the book is, the more vivid the picture is in my head. That's the beauty of art, it creates things in us that weren't there before. 

It's always funny when people on the internet discover that not everyone is exactly like them. It's like watching babies learn how to talk. And you know what? Sometimes I'm the baby too. Get in on the discourse and see where you fall on the spectrum.
